Culture and tourism, Silaynon sang Negros’ is the banner slogan of Tribu Kansilay in the 2012 Kasadyahan Competition in Iloilo City on January 21.

Mayor Jose Montelibano, head of contingent, said that the theme of Tribu Kansilay is ‘Sa Pag-ugyon, Kita May Pagaanihon’ which is the battlecry of the Negrenses to attain peace, unity and prosperity under the leadership of Gov. Alfredo Marañon.

Hugyaw Kansilay Festival’ of Silay City is an official entry of Negros Occidental in the Kasadyahan Regional Cultural Competition 2012 in Iloilo City on January 21.

 

The International  Pilgrim Virgin Statue (IPVS) of our Lady of Fatima will be given ‘Sugat-Silaynon’ reception when she arrives at the airport in Silay at 1:00 pm on January 15 (Sunday via Air Phil).

Mayor Jose Montelibano will lead devotees and Marian organizations with Bishop Vicente Navarra, Fr. Felix Pasquin, Marissa Montelibano, Ver Pacete and Susan Velez.

Silay City officials are preparing ‘Fiesta Silaynon’ reception for the 180 Korean visitors who will be arriving at the airport in Silay via Zest Air at around 11:30 am on January 7.

Mayor Jose Montelibano said that Silaynons join the Province of Negros Occidental in welcoming Koreans who could be golf enthusiasts, investors, tourism frontliners, or travel officials.

A Christmas for the Mother Earth’ will be jointly sponsored by Teleperformance and Silay City Government in Brgy. Balaring on December 17.

Levi Trio, administrative and public relations officer of Teleperformance – Bacolod, said that protecting mother earth is not just a job of environmentalists but a responsibility that every citizen has to be concerned about to ensure a well-balanced ecosystem.

Silay City, the seat of arts, culture and tourism, will be featured in the January 2012 special issue of Travel Time Magazine published by Susan Calo Medina.

Travel Time Magazine writers Celina Cruz, Donald Tapan and Ricky Lopez are here in Silay to feature the house of Dr. Jose CortezaLocsin, Balay Negrense Museum, mansion of Ramon Hofilena, Don Bernardino and Dona Ysabel Jalandoni ancestral house, and San Diego Pro-Cathedral.

 

Paskong Sayawan at Awitan’ (DepEd Night) will highlight Silay Christmas Village switch-on ceremony at 6:30 pm on December 9, 2011.

Dr. Milagros S. Gonzales, schools division superintendent, said that DepEd – Silay wants to share the talents of teachers and students to bring Christmas message to the community.

Handog Pasko sa mga Batang Patag’ will be held in Brgy. Patag, Silay City by a group of environmentalists headed by Kareen Oloroso on December 10-11, 2012.

Oloroso said that this is a joint effort of all volunteers coming from the different sectors with a common purpose of helping the environment and the children of the farmers who will become future heirs of the preserved environment.

The Silay City Christmas Village 2011 at Silay City public plaza will have its switch-on ceremony and opening program at 6:30 pm on December 9.

Mayor Jose Montelibano said that Silay City Christmas Village is a replica of Christmas tradition in Silay wherein as early as 1840, jornaleros and hacenderos converge at the public plaza in front of the church to celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ.

Kabuhi Foundation for Charity of Silay City Inc. will be presenting Daigon 2011 this coming Saturday, December 3, 2011; 7:00 pm at the Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center.
   
Kabuhi Foundation for Charity of Silay City was founded 28 years ago by parish-oriented volunteers under the parish program of Msgr. Jose Silverio Jr. in order to respond to the needs of the times.
