Tripple Tourism Treats

News: 

Silay City holds “Tripple Tourism Treats” on Friday; July 30, 2010 to culminate its Tourism July Program.

The Barangay Treasurers and Book Record Keepers’ Association of Escalante City will have its mangrove tour and eco-diversity interaction at Silay City’s Nature’s Eco park at Barangay Balaring.

Tours and lecture on mangrove rehabilitation will be conducted by Leo Canson and Sachiko Tokomura of IKAW-AKO Japan-Negros Partnership for Environmental Protection in coordination with Japan International Agency Cooperation.

Another group of visitors composed of the staff of Mayor Agapito Pagayanan Jr. of Tanawan, Leyte is also in Silay for an interaction on community-based program and LGU linkage building.

The main concern of Silay and Tanawan is on fishpond reversion to mangrove forest which is considered an urgent ecosystem agenda.

The Leyte delegation will be exposed also to the varied cultural heritage program which focuses on museum management, landmarks preservation, food/delicacy promotion and religious inter conservation.

The afternoon animo puppet presentation will be held at the covered court of Dona Montserrat Lopez memorial High School which will feature traditional dances and puppetry on waste management and environmental protection.

Mayor Jose Montelibano said that these activities are designed to support the over-all tourism landscape of Negros Occidental as embodied in the NEGROS FIRST Program of Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr.
