The four-day medical mission hosted by Silay City Kansilay Lions Club and the local government of Silay City benefited more than 5,000 Negrenses. Forty one volunteer workers of the Alexandria Asian American Lions Club based in Washington, D.C., participated in this charitable endeavor.
As of one o’clock in the afternoon yesterday, patient-beneficiaries for dental extraction totaled to 1,011. Minor surgery patients were 187 and 1,704 individuals received medical consultation.
Various eye glasses for young and old were also distributed. More than three thousand individuals from Silay and the neighboring locality took hold of at least one piece of eye glass.
Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano was pleased with the outcome of the activity. He was thankful the mission has greatly helped the Negrenses especially those who are in need of medical assistance. He further stressed that Silay City will always be committed in their role on delivering services entitled to the people.
At the “Barrio Fiesta reception” hosted by Silay City, the volunteers were treated to a delightful evening of native dances and songs performed by Silay’s ambassadors of goodwill, the Silay Folkloric Dance Company and Rondalla.
A guided tour of the province Friday will complete their visit in Negros Occidental.
