Saludo
Silay City Government through the Silay Tourism Office and Hugyaw Silay Inc. are sponsoring “Saludo” in Silay City on Feb. 17 – 19, 2010.
“Saludo” is a multi-media and multi-disciplinary presentation on the life and works of the Philippine National Artists with special focus on the National Artists from the Visayas.
Mayor Jose Montelibano said that the performing artists who will showcase their talents at the covered court of Silay Public Plaza at 7pm on Feb. 19 are the Kanlaon Theater Guild, the CSA-B Brass Band and the Kagayon Dance Troupe, in partnership with the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts under Rudy Reveche, project director.
Ver Pacete, president of the Association of Tourism Officers of Negros Occ. (ATONO) said that February has been designated as National Arts Month and the theme is “Ani ng Sining”.
The presentation will also include the showing of award winning Filipino films: “Himala” (Feb. 17; 3pm); “Cain at Abel” (Feb. 18; 3pm); and “Faces of Love” (Feb. 19; 3pm). The venue is at Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center.
The featured films are directed by Ishmael Bernal, Lino Brocka and Eddie Romero, respectively. Entrance at the civic center is for free.
A three-day exhibit and video presentation on the life and works of the national artists will precede the grand stage production. The exhibit will be opened at 5pm on Feb. 17.
