Joshua Junsay bagged five Medals in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa 2010
Twelve-year-old Joshua Junsay of Silay City bagged five medals in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa 2010. Held in San Jose, Tarlac on April 11-17, Junsay won a gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay; two silver medals in the 50m backstroke and 4x100m medley relay, respectively and one bronze medal in the 200m freestyle.
At the flag raising ceremony and program Monday, April 26, Glenn Dacula of the Silay City Sports Development Program quoted national swimming team coach Carlos Brosas saying “Junsay is one of several young swim standouts who may make it to the national team that will see action in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games.” Along with Junsay are two other swimmers from San Pablo City and Cagayan de Oro.
Junsay represented Western Visayas together with NOPSSCEA swimmers Alfred Rojo, JM Jerenita, Lorenzo Abello, JM Desquitado, Mark Juson and Luis Evangelista. Chris John Generalao and Mark Roberts of Aklan and John Patrick of Iloilo. Junsay will be receiving cash incentives from the province government of Negros Occidental and the local government of Silay.
