Fiesta Silaynon
Silay City officials are preparing ‘Fiesta Silaynon’ reception for the 180 Korean visitors who will be arriving at the airport in Silay via Zest Air at around 11:30 am on January 7.
Mayor Jose Montelibano said that Silaynons join the Province of Negros Occidental in welcoming Koreans who could be golf enthusiasts, investors, tourism frontliners, or travel officials.
“Their coming over to our province will give a chance to our LGU officials to showcase the different tourist attractions of Negros Occidental, our culture, festivals and food”, Montelibano added.
The welcome party at the airport is spearheaded by Ver Pacete, Susan Velez, Solo Locsin, Gerle Sulmaca, Francess Dane Cobrado, Nathalie Porsalida and the Friends of Tourism Silay who will offer welcome leis to Korean visitors and Zest Air top brass.
‘Fiesta Silaynon’ welcome reception will be held in front of Silay City Hall with Mayor Jose Montelibano, Vice Mayor Mark Golez, Marissa Montelibano, Maida Jison, Lyn Gamboa and the teachers and students of Dona Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School in their Filipiniana attire.
Fiesta music will be provided by the drum and bugle corps of Silay South Elementary School together with the majorettes and flag girls.
Maida Jison, director of Balay Negrense Museum, said that Silaynon ‘basket of love’ containing tourism brouchure, silay piaya-butongbutong-lubidlubid will be offered to the visitors as a sign of hospitality and camaraderie.
Welcome messages will be given by Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr., Mayor Jose Montelibano, Vice Mayor Mark Golez and other city officials will take time to talk about business, tourism, trade, commerce and industry.
Mayor Montelibano is also inviting this group to have ‘Barrio Fiesta’ dinner at the patio of Balay Negrense on January 10 wherein Silay food and delicacies will be served with Kabataang Silay Rondalla providing entertainment under the supervision of Prof. Jegger Anjao and Achilles Corteza.
In the evening of January 7, a welcome dinner will also be provided by the Province of Negros Occidental at the provincial capitol social hall for the Korean travel officials.
Timothy Jones Cabrero, Zest Air – Bacolod manager, said that their inaugural flight with international visitors will be a historic flight.
