Environment Week Culminating Activity
Silay City will have its Environment Week Culminating Activity at Brgy. Patag on Sunday, June 28.
Mayor Jose L. Montelibano said that Patag is symbolizing nature’s last stand in the North Negros Forest Reserve and the Silay Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism Area is the new frontier for the reforestation project to rehabilitate the space left behind by illegal loggers twenty years ago.
Hon. Milagros Catalan, Punong Barangay of Patg is mobilizing her council members, Lupong Tagapamayapa, tanod, Bantay Bukid Brigade, health workers, students and residents for a massive barangay clean-up activity.
Eighty members of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) of the Diocese of Bacolod spearheaded by CWL-Silay will be planting 300 seedlings at Silay City Water District water shed area.
Evalyn Rodriquez-Tan, president of CWL – Silay said that this is the biggest contribution of CWL n the province for the enhancement of environment and tourism in Patag.
CWL adopted park will soon be utilized as picnic area and camping ground for outdoor lovers.
Environmentalists who would like to join the activity are encouraged to coordinate with Silay City Tourism Office, telephone number 495-5555.
