Division SumPse Training
DepEd Silay City has conducted the Division Summer Training for teachers, April 26-27, 2010 at the Hon. Jose Locsin Civic and Cultural Center,this city.
The training aims to enhance the skills of Grade 1 and preschool teachers in handling Grade 1 pupils enrolled in the Summer Preschool Class launched by the DepED Central office which started April 12 and will end on May 20, 2010.
Seventy eight (78) teachers, thirteen (13) school principals/supervisors from Silay and fifty two (52) teachers, twenty one (21) school heads/supervisors from Bago City attended the training-workshop.Forty nine (49) preschool teachers enrolled at Silay Institute also joined the training.
Mrs. Marjorie B. Bastida, ES I- English and Preschool Coordinator, DepED Silay City, trainer, gave lectures on Teaching Beginning Reading using the MARUNGKO Approach in Filipino and Hiligaynon, Fuller Method, Games, Music, Classroom Environment, Washing the Hands and Walkthrough with the 6 Week Curriculum. Participants were grouped by districts for the activities conducted. The training was enhanced with video clips in the topics presented and actual performance of the lessons for the preschoolers and Grade 1 pupils were done by the participants.
Dr.Milagros S. Gonzales, Schools Div. Supt Silay City and Bago City shared some of her insights in teaching the kids during the training.
Dr. Portia Mallorca, ASDS, Bago City, also a former trainer in Early Childhood and Development, gave additional techniques and strategies in handling activities for the kids.
The training has no funding source but due to the beneveolence and support of some concerned people, the training was a BIG SUCCESS!!!
