The proposed partnership in tourism program between Diliman Educational Corporation and Silay City Government have been favorably accepted by Friends of Tourism – Silay.
Mayor Jose Montelibano said that the proposal of former Senator Anna Dominique ‘Nikki’ ML Coseteng manifests recognition of the tourism program, projects and activities by other groups outside of Negros Occidental.
Montelibano added that the Silay Tourism Office in cooperation with Hugyaw Silay, Inc., the NGO assisting Silay culture-arts-tourism development program, is always ready to extend assistance and resources to institutions and individuals who want to partake of the tourism assets of Silay.
The Balay Negrense Museum, under the supervision of Director Maida Jison, and the Jalandoni House Museum managed by Silay Heritage Foundation, Inc. are willing to provide special guided tour for DPS pupils and students.
Mari Kurata, coordinator, of IKAW-AKO Japan-Negros Partnership for Environmental Protection, is also willing to conduct guided tour in the mangrove area showcasing the 840-meter bamboo bridge, native mangrove showroom and bamboo Tom Tower for bird watching and sea landscape viewing.
The shoreline restaurant operators of Balaring specializing on seafood will also prepare their place just in case the students and pupils from Diliman Preparatory School will decide to have lunch in their place.
P/Supt. Rosauro Francisco, station commander of Silay PNP, has given assurance to all tourists entering Silay that his special tourist policemen assisted by well-trained Barangay Police Auxiliary Team are always ready to give proper accommodation and assistance.
Adela Folklore Village residents are ready to share their ancient religious hymns, songs from the canefields, community games, carabao-caro rides and sugarcane sticks to be munched if the visitors come on a milling season.
Ver Pacete, tourism officer of Silay, said that all packages could be arranged depending on what the visitors want to hear, see and taste.
The itinerary may include a visit to the ‘iron dinosaur’ (steam locomotive), a look into an organic garden, a hometown delicacy trip, a stop in the San Diego Pro-Cathedral or just a running tour in the ‘seat of arts and culture of Western Visayas’.
