DepEd Division of Silay City Celebrated Teacher's Day
DepED Division of Silay City celebrated Teacher's Day, October 29,2010 at the Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center.
The activity started with a Fun Run at 6 A.M participated by teachers, principals and supervisors followed by a Mass at 7:00.
Anent to Silay City's theme, "Surging High" the multi-talented mentors had shown their dancing prowess and gorgeous beauties to prove that teachers are always "on-the-go," always "soaring high" and never wane their pretty figures.
The Opening Program was graced by no less than Hon. Jose"Oti" Montelibano, City Mayor, who acknowledged the teachers' contribution to the city's progress. " Teachers play a great role in alleviating the plight of our fellow Silaynons.
You are molding the minds of young Silaynons to become useful citizens of our city and nation as well."
The Mayor also announced that more laptops will be given to principals, administrators and supervisors for ease of communication and transmitting fast and updated reports of the school. Hon. Linda J. Caja, SP Member, Chairman, Committee on Education, was also with the mayor to support the activity.
Mrs. Cynthia G. Demavivas, Asst. Schools Division Superintendent, DepED Silay welcomed everyone and acknowledged the presence of the retirees.
Later in the afternoon, Hon. Albee Benitez, Congressman, 3rd district, Neg. Occ, gave an inspiring message and expressed his gratitude to the teachers.
The highlights of the program was the Search for Miss Teacher's Day, the Aero-Dance Competition and the Concierto ni Mam kag Sir.
Mrs. Leilani Javines, english Teacher of Dona Montserrat Main High was declared Miss Teacher's Day 2010.
