87th Foundation Day of Silay Institute
Gov. Jeorge E.R. Ejercito Estregan of the Province of Laguna and Mayor Girlie ‘Maita’ Javier Estregan of the Municipality of Pagsanjan, Laguna are the guest of honors at the 87th Foundation Day of Silay Institute on February 11, 2012.
Friends of Tourism – Silay will meet the governor and the mayor at Bacolod-Silay Airport at 3:45 pm on February 10 and the welcomers are headed by Susan Velez, Ver Pacete, Solo Locsin and Gerle Sulmaca.
Vice Mayor Mark Golez will receive Gov. and Mayor Estregan at Silay City Hall and they will talk on official concerns affecting tourism, trade, commerce and industry; and the possible sisterhood program between Silay City and Pagsanjan.
‘Pang abi-abi Silaynon’, a welcome reception by the Silay City Tourism Office will follow at the sala of Balay Negrense Museum where Silay delicacies will be served and a guided tour will be facilitated by Ver Pacete.
Running tour of Silay will feature San Diego Pro-Cathedral, Plaza Olympia, Jalandoni Ancestral House and the heritage houses identified by the National Historical Commission.
Nanette Pauline Soberano Villanueva, Silay Institute Batch ’87 president, said that as host batch they have invited Gov. Estregan so that he can inspire the alumni to be more united, dedicated and committed to serve Silay community and to be effective in their chosen fields bearing the emblem of quality learned from their alma mater.
Villanueva added that Mayor Girlie ‘Maita’ Javier Estregan is a Silaynon and member of SI Batch ’85 and she will be extended a commendation by her classmates for providing good examples of what a Silaynon can do in the field of public service and governance.
Silay Institute 87th Foundation Day is anchored on the theme, ‘A Homecoming Worth Coming Home To’ which is also supported by Class ’62, the Golden Jubilareans.
Foundation Day program includes 7am mass, parade, program at SI quadrangle (9:30 am), lunch, bingo party and evening socials.
